Seated Side Bend
📎 This pose is great to lengthen the sides and open the front of the body.
📎 Make sure your hips stay on the ground.
📎 Sitting on a blanket or block for this pose can help you be more comfortable by releasing some tension off your hips and knees.
📎 You can also try this pose setting in a chair if crossing your legs is difficult for you.
Steps for the pose:
🔎 Start in easy pose / crossed leg seated position
🔎 Lift and expand your chest, keep your shoulders relaxed and away from the ears.
🔎 Place your right palm on the floor close to your right hip with your fingers pointed out to the side
🔎 Inhale and lift your left arm above your head and palm facing inward
🔎 Press both sitting bones in the ground and lengthen the crown of your head and your spine.
🔎 Exhale and stretch to the right while sliding your right hand away from you to the right
🔎 Feel the left of your body lengthening from your hip to fingertips
🔎 Hold the pose from 5 to 30 seconds
🔎 Inhale and lift your torso and left arm upward. Exhale and bring down your left arm to go back into easy pose
🔎 Repeat on the right side
