    Tadasana – Mountain Pose
Mountain pose enhances body awareness so you can correct imbalances and improve your alignment, which reduces risk of injury. It’s easier to develop awareness and make adjustments when in a simple, static pose like Tadasana.
Standing with the feet side by side, ground them into the earth spreading the toes, lifting slightly the arches and rooting down through the soles of the feet. The spine is long with the crown of the head lifted to the sky, tilting the chin down slightly and the tailbone tucked down towards the earth. Pull the navel in towards the spine. The deep back muscles or erector spinae extend from the skull to the base of the spine. The abdominal muscles work together with the back muscles to support the torso to keep the body upright. The lower part of the trapezius muscle draws the shoulders down, away from the ears and helps lift the chest. The legs are strong.
Mentally, this pose tests your focus and concentration.
Taking a deep breath in raising the arms towards the sky, lace you fingers together above the head, pointing the index fingers upwards, drop the shoulders down and back, then lift the chest towards the sky opening the heart chakra, gently arching the back, whilst remaining grounded at the feet.
