Camel Pose- Ushtrasana is a yoga pose intended for intermediate and advanced practitioners. Camel pose will help you relieve stress and relax the mind. Also, the front of your body is stretched along with the groin, ankles and thighs and your arms and shoulders will strengthen. It will also benefit the circulatory, nervous, endocrine and the respiratory systems.

    Steps

🌀 Kneel down on the ground with your knees hip width distance apart. Your thighs must be perpendicular to the floor and your abdominal muscles activated.

🌀 Inhale, pace your hands just below your hip behind you with elbows pointing backwards. Take the shoulders behind you, opening your chest while holding your hips. Take a few breaths.

🌀 Raise upwards again making sure your abdomen is activated.

🌀 Take your upper body and stretch back and downwards, make sure your thighs are tight and straight.

🌀 Take both hands and place them on your heels behind you. Raise your chest upwards bringing the spine inwards and release the head and neck backwards feeling the stretch at the neck and lower back.

🌀 Breathe slowly into your lower back and neck.

🌀 The weight of your body should be evenly supported by the legs and arms.

🌀 Hold the pose for a few breaths

🌀 Release your hands and bring your spine to a neutral position.

🔎 As a counter pose you can go on to child’s pose.

❗️ Use caution if you have high blood pressure or migraines.

💡 A tip for beginners would be to keep a chair above the feet and touch the base of the chair with your hands instead of your feet.
