    Cow Face Pose- Gomukhasana

    (Deep Hip Stretch)

Begin in a sitting position, here we will take 3 deep breaths to bring us into this now moment.

Take the time to feel your breath filling your belly with the energy around you, try and hold this breath for a moment and then release it back with gratitude.

We will now start by placing your left knee bent in front of you, then position you right knee over top the left in a stacked position. If you find this position is a bit stiff, place a pillow beneath yourself for more comfort.

Once you’re comfortable try and have your knees as close to this stacked position as possible, forming our cow face pose.

Find stillness here in this pose, you may bring your hands to heart centre, or slowly rise them above your crown chakra as I have in the image below. Another option is to place your hands in any Mudra you feel called to (Gyan- index and thumb touching with the rest of the fingers facing out), as I have done so in the second image here.

I’d like you to try and focus on your breath, once again taking 3 belly breaths and feeling the difference your body takes in the air in this pose.

After this you may unfold your knees and stretch them forward into a bicycle pose, peddling in the air and feeling its freedom.

Now we will return to our cow pose but alternating knees, now placing the right knee under your left, bringing us back to our stacked knees position (cow face pose). Again we will find our stillness with breath, once you feel ready, release your legs out into our bicycle position, then allowing them to return to our sitting position.

I welcome you to close your eyes here as we end this pose with 3 deep belly breaths, remembering to thank yourself for being present in this moment, present with yourself, present and one with the love of this universe.

    Namaste,

    Melody
