5th Chakra: Visuddha, Throat chakra, Mantra vinyasa / Kundalini Yoga

Sanskrit: Visuddha = Purification / pure speech

Element: ether / space / sound
    – Color: light blue / aquamarine / turquoise

Crystals: Lapis lazuli, Aquamarine, blue calcite

    Sound: Ham

Sense: Hearing and being heard (emotional energy related to 4th chakra)

Body: In the middle of the neck, throat, vocal cords, voice, jaws, mouth, ears, shoulder tips.

Stands for: Integrity, truth, harmonious communication. Dare to make your own sound, let your voice be heard, just as each bird lets its own song be heard. Think of the expression “Having a lump in the throat” In this case the throat chakra is not open. The throat chakra is the narrow transition between the lower 3 chakras (the material world, doing) and the upper 2 chakras (the immaterial world, thinking). It directly connects the heart and mind. It is important to keep the throat chakra open in order to be able to switch from thinking towards doing and to be able to and dare to carry out your life purpose / your message.

Deficiencies in the throat chakra: being very quiet, not expressing feelings, bad rhythmicity, coughing… Or talking very much and very fast, never listening, gossiping,….
By chanting you regulate your breathing in a natural way, you stimulate the vagus nerve and that brings you neurological peace. By chanting mantras during the flow exercises you allow the energy to flow between all the chakras. The Mantras support you in the changes in your life and keep you in the here and now.

The mantra: Siri Gaitri Mantra (Rama Dasa) version of Snatam Kaur & Ajeet Kaur is very beautiful ( youtu.be/YQrs9zlOW1U)

Meaning of the Siri Gaitri Mantra: Ra Ma Da Sa Say So Hung

    Ra: energy of the sun

    Ma: the moon

    Da: the earth

    Sa: infinity

Say: the all encompassing infinite source or God ; The source

    So Hung: I am you.

Briefly and literally translated, the mantra means: the all-encompassing love of God / the source is within me

Chanting mantras while doing asanas and kriyas (short sequences) is part of Kundalini Yoga and Mantra vinyasa Flow; Yoga forms of consciousness.

For me personally, matra vinyasa allows me to really stay in the here and now while doing asanas. Mantras, for me, allow me to naturally welcome peace in my mind without being tempted to fight against thoughts. I have already made great progress in chanting Matras. First I listened to them, then I sang along quietly from time to time, now I confidently sing them out loud and dare to let my voice be heard. Combining the mantra’ together with the asanas and kriyas within the Mantra Vinyasa flow ensures that I can bring a soft flow in my poses and movements. The yoga class feels more as a whole. I am completely sucked into the moment. At this moment Teaching while singing the matras does pose a challenge to my memory 😉

Postures that are good for throat chakra stimulation include half candle (Viparita Karani Mudra) & fish pose (Matsyasana), Cat-Cow With Lion’s Breath, Plow plow pose (halasana)

Beautifully written Floor. Chanting is so good in so many ways, especially to open the throat chakra 🙂
