We hold a lot of tension in our jaws from clenching our teeth, chewing, talking, and sometimes grinding our teeth in our sleep.

Its good to relieve this tension even a little bit. You can start by placing your thumbs on the bottom part of your jaw closest to the ears. You may find stabilizing your fingers on your head helpful while you massage little circles into the jaw muscles. Continue with the circles as you move up and down the frame of your face as well as along the jaw bone. You may pause on firmer parts of the muscled and press into it for some time. This will help new blood flow to the site and help with healing. There is one particular spot about an inch from your ear lobe that you may find to be quite painful. Kneading this small area can help release a lot of tension.
