Find a comfortable seated position, either on floor or in a cushion. Take you right hand and place it on your knee, palm up and touch your index finger and thumb. With your left hand, you are going to bend down the index and middle fingers. Alternately you will block one nostril then another. The thumb will block the left nostril, the ring finger will block the right. Using the thumb block the left nostril. Inhale for a count of 8, block both nostrils and hold the breath in for a count of 8, release the ring finger on the right nostril and exhale slowly for a count of 8. You will inhale with the right nostril for a count of 8, block both nostrils and hold the breath for a count of 8, then release the thumb on the left nostril and exhale slowly for a count of 8. You repeat this pattern about 10 times to really connect with the breath.
