The miracle morning routine is based off of the book by Hal Elron. Elron experienced significant difficulties in his life and researched many tools to help him move past seemingly impossible obstacles. Through his research he found 6 habits in particular that many successful people practice regularly. He began combining the practices and doing all 6 every morning and noted incredible changes in his life. He developed the acronym SAVERS to help summarize the skills.

S=silence where you spend 10 minutes in meditation. This can include focusing on one topic in particular such as gratitude and helps you practice experiencing these feelings regularly. The more you practice feeling these states the easier it will be to access these feelings throughout the day. It’s also an opportunity to contemplate how we can bring those topics into our lives.

A=affirmation where you spend 10 minutes to affirm yourself. Instead of saying and thinking of things that are not currently true, the key is to affirm what you are committed to do. That way you can affirm your final goal or desire and affirm the work that you will do to help make that come true. It is also important to affirm why this goal is important to do and what specific actions you will take to make this happen.

V=visualizations where you spend 10 minutes visualizing what you want for your life. Similar to affirmation, it is important to visualize and see what you want to accomplish as well as visualize the steps you need to take to get there. To get the most benefit from visualization it is helpful to visualize as much detail as possible; visualize what you can or want to see, what you what to feel emotionally and physically, what you would smell, hear, and taste.

E=exercise. Spend 10 minutes moving your body. The benefits of working out can last as long as 13 hours after the workout, so this can have a significant impact on our day. It does not necessarily need to be a strenuous workout first thing in the morning. Find some sort of movement that you enjoy or that feels do-able in the morning.

R=reading. There is so much to learn and investigate and be curious about the world. Take 10 minutes in the morning to read and invest in learning something new.

S=scribing. There is something different that happens for us when we take the time to write things down on paper. The process of writing can help bring new realizations and can help us process through thoughts and emotions. In your 10 minutes of journaling, you don’t necessarily need to have a plan or agenda – sometimes it might be just describing your morning. Sometimes you will have much more to talk about. The point is to give yourself time and space to allow what is inside your mind to the outside world.

There are many benefits of the miracle morning. This practice addresses all major aspects of being human – physical, mental, emotional, spiritual. This practices helps bring consistent attention to our goals and hopes; this way we will not easily forget the direction we want to go. These practices help us to be more present, mindful, and intentional with our lives.
