I found Journey to Joyful to be a really enlightening read. The section on emotional prison keepers really resonated with me and was very eye opening. I was able to very clearly see how each of the 3 elements have been holding me back and in the past have been the root of a lot of pain and unnecessary heartache. Here are a few of the key moments when reading through this section of the book. I felt like I had completely lost my identity when I lost my job and it took me a long time to realize that my career was only a small part of me and that I had attached my whole identity to this one title for so long and limited my own personal growth. I have also often found myself struggling to express myself emotionally or to ask for help. I never realized just how much anxiety and disappointment in my life was due to miscommunication or unrealistic expectations of others. This has always been something I have struggled with and have been trying to work on for years. But I always seemed to fall back into old habits. After reading Journey to Joyful I have found myself being more open and communicating with others. I am more aware of when I find myself having unrealistic expectations of others, especially if I have not communicated those expectations or needs to them.

Journey to Joyful is a book I will be coming back to often as I continue working on myself and through my yoga teacher training. After reading the book I found I have not only improved my personal well-being and mental health but also improved and strengthened my close relationships.
