    heal your back

    This was my favourite full length class video. I suffer from a lot of shoulder and back pain on a daily basis which I continually need to stretch out and so I found this practice not only useful but so relieving.

    I loved how the flow started focusing on the lower back – starting from the root and rising up! working like a pivot from the sacral chakra I liked how the poses released tension from angles by flowing from front to back, up and down and side to side stretches.

    What I loved most were all the points of focus within each pose to ensure that the position is correct and the stretch is felt in the right place such as knowing when to add a strap to ensure that the back isn’t arching when folding over or when to use a block or sit on a block to elevate the hips and relieve discomfort or when to know what level to keep your hands or elbows or arms on the mat in a fold – I found these tips extremely helpful for when I teach my own class especially one with many mixed abilities.

    The blend of strength and stretching was really fun way to ensure balance in the practice and also to add heat without making the practice too difficult or tiring. Spinal balances are by far my favourite exercises in any practice 🙂

    I love having a bridge sequences towards the end of the practice – feels like such a good full body stretch and opener – and having it at the end brings together all the benefits of all poses in the class and then the surpine spinal twists is my all time favourite end of a class.
