HW: day 1 yoga fundamentals: seated cow pose
Seated Cow Pose (Upavistha Bitilasana)
🌻 Start in easy pose.🌻 Place your palms on your knees.🌻 Inhale deeply and open your heart, taking a gentle backbend and squeezing your shoulder blades behind you.🌻 Arch your back and root into your sitbones. 🌻 Lift your chest upward and gaze up toward the sky.
This pose helps you balance your Solar Plexus Chakra (Manipura in Sanskrit – translating to ‘city of jewels’) and the element Fire 🔥 , located around your belly button and representing the color Yellow. This is your warrior energy, your power, your confidence and your will to transform.Deficiency in this chakra can manifest as eating disorders, sense of being a victim, low self esteem and powerlessness.Excess can be shown as anger and focus on external status. (This happens when we feel we are lacking something and we move to the other extreme, trying to over-compensate).
Personally this is one of the hardest chakras to balance, and I’ve had the excess ‘symptoms’ most of my teenager and adult life. By committing daily, through yoga, to these imbalances, I’m finding more abundance and resolution in my life. It’s also easier for me to give up what I feel and know it’s safe, and take risks as an individual because I’m realizing that in order to create a safe space, I need to start from within. The outer world and everything around me is just a manifestation of my inner self 🏹 This helped me find my personal freedom, take responsibility for my choices and life and become my most authentic self.
