HW: Chi Flow Vinyasa
High Lunge with Twist (as in Qi Gong Flow)
There are multiple access routes into a high lunge – from a low lunge, downward dog, or simply stepping straight back to mountain pose, are some.
Lets say we step back from Mountain pose with the left foot – the stance is hip width and both sets of toes point to the front short edge of the mat. We need to spread the front toes and check the knee is tracking over the toes, not dropping in. Square the hips to the front of the mat, drawing the right hip back and left hip forward in a scissoring action, and allow the back raised heel, to relax, allowing us lower a little more. Lift tall through the spine, crown, and raise the arms out to the side lengthening through the side body on an inhale. Flex the wrists, and exhale as you spiral the chest toward the midline for a high lunge with rotation.
**There are multiple variations for a high/crescent lunge for arms, rotations, etc. This, for example could also offer the opportunity to rotate the opposite direction.
