HW: Chakra Series – Throat Chakra
The fifth Chakra is the Throat Chakra – or Vissudha. This energy center is represented by the color bright blue and the element of sound. The developmental stage is from ages seven to 12 years old and its focus is on creative expression, communication skills and symbolic thinking. In an unbalanced state, one may struggle with fear of speaking, difficulty putting feelings in to words and on the other end of the spectrum too much talking and inability to listen. This is an important energy center for me as it is often a challenge for me, I often find myself deficient in this energy. By loosening the neck and shoulders, singing, chanting, storytelling, I hope to help students as well as myself to open up this energy center and improve creativity, listening skills, and to speak with a clear and confident voice.
