The Solar Plexus Chakra – Manipura, is located as you would guess, in the solar plexus area which lines up between the navel and the base of the chest. This Chakra is aligned with the element of fire and rightly so. The energy here is our fuel for creative living; it is our place of personal power, our inner fire, and therefore also has control over our self-esteem. Our confidence, strength, and how in control we feel is directly related to the Solar Plexus Chakra. It is a potent energy when clearly focussed but a tricky one to maintain. It is affected by our own fears, anxiety and sense of purpose – both spiritual and energetic factors affect this chakra. In addition, our metabolism and digestive system play a large role in keeping it balanced. When the Solar Plexus is blocked it can affect us deeply both in mind, body and spirit: It could show up as digestive issues, control issues, anger, indecision and even more extreme physical manifestations such as diabetes and hypoglycaemia.
We can best support it by endeavouring to eat well and maintain good gut health, ensuring our intentions have clarity, and particularly within the yoga practice, work to strengthen the core, and getting the physical energy moving strongly. I have found practicing kriyas (with breath of fire) particularly empowering for a sluggish Manipura.😊
