HW: 3 Stage Energy Diet Detox
The recipe that intrigued me the most was the raw/low carb Mediterranean wraps. I usually really enjoy different wraps and have never had one with swiss chard as the wrap. I have had them where there is romaine lettuce but never swiss chard so I was very interested in what it would taste like.
I only made one because the swiss chard leaves were so large. Instead of using just half an avocado I sliced a whole one and put it in the wrap. I know avocados don’t last long after you cut them and didn’t want to waste it so I just used the whole thing. For the cucumber, I cut each slice in fourths so the bites were smaller. I didn’t want to run into that situation where you bite into it and pull out a whole cucumber slice and other stuff falls out at the same time. I don’t usually like tomatoes so I only put about ¼ of one in it and it was diced into smaller pieces so I didn’t taste it as much. I don’t like brussel sprouts much but I found a micro green that is broccoli sprouts so I used that instead. I used about 1/3 of a red pepper and diced it into small pieces. I usually really love red peppers and would have done more except that I felt that the wrap already seemed so full, and I didn’t want it to explode out the other end. Full disclosure, I could have totally added more red pepper because the whole thing exploded and was so messy on the first bite. I was unable to find Tahini Goddess Dressing. I found a cilantro avocado dressing. However, it did have yogurt in it and I know we aren’t supposed to do dairy but I only used a little bit of it. I couldn’t find another good alternative so I figured it was the best I could do. I wish I would have added some hummus since I love it and I think it would have made it tastier. I found it really interesting as I was eating it. However, it was so messy! It was spilling out the back with every bite. Next time I would do it I would maybe try it on the sprouted grain tortilla and with some hummus. The other thing I have to figure out is the protein aspect of it. I really struggle when I don’t get enough protein. I don’t like the taste of tuna and I am not good at preparing salmon (or really many fish and meats for that matter) so I definitely struggled in that aspect of it.
Overall, I really enjoyed the recipe. I thought it made a delicious lunch. The picture below is before the first bite and you can see it was already spilling out everywhere. Thanks Dashama for a great recipe!
