HW: forearm balance and headstand
Here is my process for headstand! It has taken me MONTHS to get to this point. Honestly I still fall out of it all of the time!
From kneeling position touch your elbows with your other hands to get the correct size of your base. Then keep your elbows planted and clasp your fingers together. Tip your head down until the top of your head is flat on the ground and your palms cradle the back of your head.
Engage your shoulders by pulling them in and back. This was the hardest part for me trying to figure out how to do that. Imagine your body weight being held on your shoulders instead of your neck.
Then straighten your knees into pike. Start to engage your core and begin by lifting one foot off the ground. Once you are centered pull your other knee into your center while engaging your core.
When you feel stable, slowly lift your pointed feet up to the sky. Don’t forget to breath!
Tips: If your elbows flare out when you are taking your first foot off the ground you will feel off balance and you are more likely to fall out of it. Make sure your shoulders are directly above your elbows!
